Be Very Cautious of the Staff

By chelsea on 7/24/2019 at 8:40 PM. Helped by Tony, Mike Brixie and Mike Major.

Be very cautious of over promising when working with the financial manager Mike Major and his sales associates Mike Brixie and Tony. They both were extremely rude and unhelpful when assisting me with a service dispute. Mike Brixie and another manager Tony over-promised to provide me with a lifetime of details on my car, should I purchase from Kingdom Chevy and not the competition Toyota (who is a 5-minute walk from Kingdom Chevy). When I came in yesterday to receive a copy of this, both Brixie and Major stated that I was the one confused and that they only offer free car washes to their customer, and made it seem like I didn't know the difference between a detail and a car wash. I explained that this lifetime of detailing was also brought up with Renee (another financial officer). Because the conversation had devolved into a "he said, she said", I requested the contact information for Mike Major's manager, upon which he replied, "I don't have time to get that right now.". For any manager or associate to see that as an acceptable response does not deserve my business or my money. I can only wish in hindsight that I had purchased my car from Toyota on western, instead of Kingdom Chevy. Toyota was much more transparent about the purchasing a car, and what they can and can’t offer. Mike Brixie didn't even have the courtesy to stay for the remainder of our meeting. He simply provided his side of the story, and got up and left without even making any effort to arrive to a resolution to this issue. Will I recommend Kingdom Chevy to anyone else? No, I will not recommend any one purchase a car from a dealership who will overpromise just to secure a customer, and then fail to deliver on that promise, and blatantly lie about it.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Terrible customer service & overall bad experience

By raylo15 on 3/14/2019 at 11:20 PM. Helped by Chris, Tony, Robin, Michelle.

I would never recommend this dealership because they were rude, slow, demanding & leaving with a very dirty vehicle wasn’t leaving on a good note. Drove 4 hours to buy a vehicle, left exhausted, upset & still dealing with their aftermath of awful service.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Deceitful

By joedwards1982 on 2/17/2019 at 6:49 PM. Helped by Will not publicly shame.

I had been looking for a daily commute vehicle that got good gas mileage. I found that the Chevy Cruze had the mpg I was looking for and had many features that would make my 2 hours on the road each day more enjoyable. While searching online I found a 2015 Metallic Green with the 2LT package at Kingdom Chevrolet. The car listed around 83,000 miles on it with a clean Carfax report. The pictures looked OK on their site, and was listed as no damage. We drove over 3 hours to the dealership to see the car in person and brought a trade in vehicle. The Cruze that was listed as having no damage had 2 major dents in it, one on the rear driver quarter panel, and one above the back driver door. Because they do not wash the vehicle (or clean them out before you purchase them) we did not see the paint damage until AFTER we purchased the car. There was a small piece of the front clip that was hanging down that the salesman said "oh that is a curb indicator that let's you know when you are driving over something. It will make contact before the bumper so you know if you are going to hit something " No Cleveland, that is actually a piece of the bumper that is hanging down, I just didn't want to argue with you...., but if you are reading this, know I knew then you didn't know what you were talking about. Just like when you said the dents could probably be taken care of for under $80. The dent above the door is actually creased and will be more than that. The navigation system they listed the car having .. That doesn't exist on this car either. So we have deception about the condition of the car, we have deception about features on the car, and sales people that make up features "curb indicator" Now let's talk about the 3.5 hour wait we had at the dealership .. Yes they were busy that day, but our sales reps kept coming by and saying just a little while longer then disappearing for 10-20 min at a time. We expected the process would take a while, but not THREE AND A HALF HOURS. We brought cash, so this should have been a much quicker process. Take a look at the car, make a decision, appraisal of the trade in, here is the cash, here is your title, and on the road. But no. It was just sit and wait and wait and wait. When filling out the paper work, we mentioned we would just register the car when we got home, he insisted it was the same if we did it at the dealership or at home, and might as well do it there. OK fine... ONLY to find out at the end that we would need to come back in 6-8 weeks to pick up our plates. I was upset and expressed that I would NOT be driving a 7 hour round trip to pick up my plates. They finally agreed they would mail them (would have been avoided if we just registered at home like we planned since this car was bought out right, and could have gotten the plates on Tuesday when the DMV opened). Pro's and Con's of this car buying experience at Kingdom Chevrolet: PRO's: -Mostly fun conversations during the 10. 5 hours the trip took. (3.5 hrs up, 3.5 hrs at the dealership, 3.5 hrs back home) CON'S: -Deceitful on car conditions -Deceitful on car features -Deceitful on issues with cars -Trash in cars while test driving, then waiting on car to be cleaned after a purchase -We did not receive the plates off of the vehicle we traded in -We were told NOT to date the title when we signed over the trade in -3.5 at the dealership, with only 10 min of that being looking at the car and test drivinvg -Lack of feeling engaged by staff If you are looking for a new or used vehicle, avoid Kingdom Chevrolet. I'm sure I'll get a response on here from them, saying to contact them and they will try and make things better, but I truly believe it's just a PR stunt, and no resolution will actually be made, especially since I will NOT be driving all the way up to their Dealership again for anything.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Very Bad Service Experience

By medical301 on 5/12/2018 at 5:15 PM. Helped by Rudy R.

This was the most hated service experience of my entire life. I took my 2015 SUV in to have toe two front tires replaced. I first of all was way over charged, two and a half times what other dealers charge for the same service. My truck had grease on the outside of the drivers door, I felt like I had taken my truck to an alley mechanic. The personnel from the service adviser to the cashier were very rood, and I would never take my vehicle back there again ever. Kingdom Chevrolet should be avoided at all cost. They give you bad service, and make you overpay for the privilege. B. Brown Chicago, IL. 2015 GMC Yukon.

Buyer Beware

By Larry F on 12/27/2017 at 11:05 PM. Helped by do not remember names.

Bought a used car thru Kingdom for my daughter. The purchasing experience was good until it came time for the details. After telling me there were two key fobs, on delivery only one. $300 for new one. Missing SD card required to run the nav and entire control system, which I knew but they said easy to go buy on we. Not so, $320 later I have one, then found it in the spare tire area a month later. Live out of state, Ohio, so they said I had to have temp license thru them for $110. They forgot to send me the temp tag so had to go buy one myself here..,,$18. They gave me the wrong title for the car, which I discovered when went to register the car and held me hostage by not sending the correct title until I send them all evidence of the wrong title and information back to them. During this time had to go buy another temporary tag. While working thru this from out of state, left many messages, promises I would be called back, but no urgency to correct there errors. The lady in the title depart never apologized for any mistakes even though I had someone else title. They truly behaved like this was a one time transaction to extract as much as possible from me for as little effort as possible, with no care in the world about how they behaved. Truly buyer beware. My errors, it believed these used car salesmen where different......not so much Larry F - Cincinnati

They lost the keys

By Happy customer on 3/19/2017 at 3:40 PM. Helped by DiNeshia.

I had been looking at a used Cadillac SRX on cars.com for months. I watched it as the price dropped from an initial list price of $23,000 clear to $15,000. I live in Indianapolis and so it was going to be a three hour drive to Chicago to see the car. I had my financing ready through my local bank. I was prepared to drive to Chicago, check in hand, and buy this vehicle - pending any major issues or surprises with the vehicle. I called on Tuesday to express my interest in coming to see the car. An appointment was made for me for Saturday afternoon. I was told to call back Friday and again Saturday before I left, to confirm the vehicle was still available. I did just that. I called part way into the drive to Chicago Saturday. They confirmed the vehicle was available and we continued on our way. I received a call back about 10 minutes later, telling me which salesperson to ask for. He told me he had 32 years experience and would handle me with "kid gloves" whatever that meant. He also wanted to know if I'd be paying cash or financing. Another 15 minutes passed and I received another call. This time they were calling to tell me they didn't have a key for the vehicle and wouldn't be able to show it to me today. By this point I was an hour into my drive to Chicago. They claimed another salesperson took the key home with him and they couldn't reach him. They said they would have the key back Monday. Of course I work Monday and I'm already an hour into my drive. They offered to look for another Cadillac SRX at one of their other dealerships. It was $3000 more and had twice the miles. I declined. They told me the one I was looking at had a flat the night before and that's when the salesperson must have taken the key. They then claimed that that was probably why the price was so low, because the car likely had lots of little problems. I never wound up going there. It turned out to be quite fortunate, as I found the perfect car at a dealership close to home. However, the whole experience was quite frustrating. They knew I was coming all week. They had my contact info. I had an appointment scheduled. They still managed to be missing the only key the day that I was scheduled to see the car. Could have been a sincere mistake (although I think a dealership should be more organized than that) but I wonder if it wasn't a bait and switch as they offered to show me 2 or 3 other cars that of course cost more.

I would not recommend this dealer.

This place should be ashamed! Call the feds!

By AkilahLani on 3/13/2017 at 4:58 PM. Helped by Dominic.

I was literally destroyed here! 2 years ago, I came in to get financed. I was lied to and mislead all the way around. They took my lack of savvy as a sign of weakness and proceeded to take advantage of me. I told them my limits with monthly payments and the size of vehicle I needed based on my family size. They stated I was sold a 2011 Chrystler Town and Country, I was told the car had a few minor issues, but they were documented and they would fix them with no cost to me, needless to say that I was lied to again. The finance director Dominic told me I was approved for $350 payments, however a week later asked me to come back because he'd made a mistake, my payments would actually be $385, I reluctantly came back and signed additional paperwork. About 20 days later he called again with another blunder on his part, stating my rate was actually $420, so I said that was too much and he told me that I would have to return the vehicle. Because I had no other choices, I obliged, from that point the car was in and out of the shop, at one point being in the shop over 30 days. I had to drive a rental car on top of pay my car payments, the deductible for the repairs as well. I complained to the GM the floor manager to anyone who would listen. Also, when I purchased the car I was  not given a new key, or even a back up key. So a few months later the key broke while I was out of town and I had to pay $300 to get a new one from a local locksmith, I was then told that the year of the car wasn't 2011 like I was quoted, but 2010! I was floored. I have been just driving this car and paying $420 monthly and literally struggling. So I reached out to a reputable dealership and they did some digging to find out that I was signed into a simple loan with the finance company by the dealership, whereas the finance company gets a huge percentage of interest paid first before anything is paid to the principal, for the last 24 months, I have paid close to 10K towards a car that was sold/financed at 15K. Of that 10K I have spend only $1400 has gone towards the principal. The car is literally falling a part and I don't know what to do, it is not bluebook valued at 2K and I am locked into a 72 months contract with a lemon and because I am so upside down no one will finance me. I am beyond hurt that human beings could do this to someone. I wish I could rate them at ZERO because they are scripted liars, and come to find out the team that organized this botch deal are no longer working there.

headache..

By disappointed customer on 9/13/2016 at 6:32 AM. Helped by Sean, Lucient, Bill.

customer service is absolutely terrible. Before purchasing my car I noticed that Sean Hargrove responded to a lot of unsatisfied customers, so i immediately emailed him to tell him what I was looking for (i was originally referred by a coworker). Throughout this entire process Sean has been great! However, I live 2 hrs away so on the day I was able to visit the dealership he was off. Lucient was my salesman. He seemed like a great one at 1st, but since Ive gotten the car (less than a month) he hasn't responded to any emails or phone calls that I've done regarding minor issues with the car. So I had to refer back to Sean for help. Then on today, I got a call from Lucient saying I needed to come all the way back to chicago to sign a paper that was added to the contract and I would be compensated for mileage. When I arrive, Lucient isn't there and I talk to Bill. He asked me if he sold me the car and when I said no, he literally walked away like I wasn't standing there. A complete dick! Everyone there is unprofessional and rude. When I told the financial guy that Lucient said I would be compensated for mileage, he laughed. They are seriously a joke. The only good thing I received was my car and it almost wasnt worth the foolery. The car is nice and I haven't had any major problems so far. 2015 Jeep Compass.

worth the drawbacks

By cbrownyo on 4/14/2016 at 11:39 PM. Helped by eddie.

FIrst off, this place is crazy busy so go early for best experience. I saw a great deal online, so great that it was worth the trek down there to see if it was legit. They didn't try any funny stuff and honored the price on the car I wanted. Overall it was well worth it, I mean it nicer buying a car in the suburbs but the same car I wanted was 2 thousand more everywhere else. You just have to deal with some of there clientele who are a little loud. One lady was screaming at them for repossesing her car calling them crooks. The manager was nice and calm with her, I mean lady if you dont make your car payment your car gets repossesed. It's not the dealers fault. I can see this probably happens alot there. So if you can deal with a lack of peace and quiet it is worth saving thousands of dollars for 3 hours of your life

They sold me a used vehicle with the incorrect engine.

By willinchicago on 9/23/2015 at 3:42 PM. Helped by Mike (salesman).

Kingdom Chevy sold me a used vehicle with the incorrect engine; car can't pass emissions and is useless. I purchased a used 2007 Ford Escape from Kingdom Chevrolet. After the purchase, I took it to 3 different mechanics to have the "Check Engine" light issue repaired. The computer was showing a "Camshaft timing" error. Eventually, after a lot of time, energy and money invested in diagnosis, it was determined that the engine in the vehicle was incorrect. We don't know which model year or style this engine is for, but it is definitely not for this vehicle. I called Kingdom Chevrolet to let them know the situation. Their response was to stonewall and claim they have zero liability for this. All of my paperwork says that I purchased a 2007 Ford Escape. Nothing on the paperwork states that I was purchasing the engine for a different vehicle. I did not agree to purchase the body of one vehicle and the engine of another. This was a material fact not disclosed to me prior to the purchase of this vehicle.

3rd purhcase from Kingdom

By richard p on 8/29/2015 at 8:09 PM. Helped by bruce.

This is my 3rd purchase from kingdom chevy personally and I've also sent numerous relatives and friends that I've sent there. I just wanted to get the word out that this is a wonderful establishment to purchase a vehicle from and I'm taken aback as to how they would have any bad reviews. The one things I have noticed in my dealings is they are an extremely busy dealership with a wide range of cars so maybe it takes a little extra patience to purchase a car there but the deals I've gotten and the customer service I've received have been well worth it

I have been searching for a dependable and affordable used car for some time now. During my search I kept seeing kingdom pop up with lots of choices and prices that seemed to good to be true. I did my research and found several bad reviews about kingdom which caused me some concern. I decided to call the dealerships sales manager to ask how I would be treated if I decided to come in to purchase a vehicle. He assured me I would be treated with the utmost respect and he would personally assure my satisfaction. I decided to give them a try since their prices were thousands less than other dealers for the same car. I was more than pleasantly surprised by the customer service I received and the quality of the vehicle for the price I paid. The only drawback I can come up with is they are extremely busy but so is Costco, must be the prices!!! I would highly recommend checking them out as long as you a bit of patience for an incredible deal

sold dangerous criminally negligent car

By Dawn Picard on 5/16/2015 at 11:45 PM. Helped by Cleveland was sales, Shane sales manager horrible.

Wednesday March 25th I called Kingdom Chevrolet, Chicago Ill. regarding a 2005 Dodge Stratus listed on Car Fax and Kingdom Chevrolet’s website. I told the sales rep Cleveland Gallowa that I was looking for a car with decent mileage, good shape and ran well for use in heavy driving. I asked about the Dodge Stratus at which time he said he didn’t know much about it, only what the Car Fax said. We arrived, David Wiley, and myself around 10 am Thursday March 26th to look at the Dodge. The body appeared to be in decent shape and the mileage at 128,225 for a 2005 was acceptable. I asked if the vehicle had been inspected and Mr. Gallowa stated that all vehicles are looked over before sold. After entering the car it was apparent that the shocks and or struts would need to be replaced and an alignment but the vehicle appeared to run well. The total cost for the Dodge was $1835.52. Friday March 27th David Wiley called me in a panic that the driver’s side front wheel was sitting at an angle, with the bottom of the wheel angled under the vehicle and the top angled out of the wheel well. Monday March 30th David Wiley, followed by my husband Walter Jones, drove the Dodge to our mechanic, Chris Wallen of Wallen Auto in Michigan City, In. Tuesday March 31st Chris Wallen called and said the front driver’s side wheel had folded under the car due to a broken control arm, sheared bolts in the cradle, separation of the cv axle shaft. Upon further inspection both upper ball joints, hub bearing assembly, sway bar link, both rear upper strut mounts, water pump, oil pressure gauge switch had to be replaced just to make the vehicle legally safe to drive. 4 days later the total cost of repairs was $1757.38. Monday April 6th I called Kingdom Chevrolet to speak to a manager regarding the situation. Nobody returned my call. Thursday April 9th a lady called from Kingdom Chevrolet asking all sorts of question as a survey on how satisfied we were. I explained the situation and that it was illegal for a dealership to sell a vehicle that wasn’t safe to street worthy or safe to drive and this constituted criminal negligence and needed to be addressed. I also let her know I had called Monday with no response. She was upset about the situation and said she’s tell the manager and someone would get in touch with me. Monday April 13th my husband Walter Jones called and spoke with Shane, the Sales Manager. Shane told Walter that the vehicle was supposed to be for parts only, that’s why the price was so low, however nowhere on any site or listing was “for parts only” listed. Walter told him this and Shane said fine bring back the car and we’ll reimburse you the $1400 you paid for the car, not any of the taxes, fees etc or the cost of repairs, just the initial cost of the car. Walter said that wasn’t going to happen especially considering the amount of money we spent on repairs and that they would turn around and sell it for a great deal more. Shane then told Walter he would pay $500 and that was it, take it or deals done. Walter said that wasn’t enough, reminding of the illegality of the sell and the criminal negligence. Shane hung up saying do what you gotta do. Thursday April 16th I called leaving a message for Shane telling him to call me, reminding him that he sold an illegal car, it was criminally negligent and people could have died if David had hit one of the craters on 94 going home to Indiana. We needed to discuss the situation, coming to a decent agreement as I was trying to avoid any legal ramifications. Shane never returned my call. Now there is a loud rattle getting louder all the time and burning oil so badly we add a quart of oil daily. We’ve already been told by 3 mechanics that the oil pump is going out and the bearing are wearing out which means that the engine will seize and will be toast. To repair the engine or replace will cost over $3000 and we’ve already invested around $3600. Horrible experience and still going.
